On
November 21, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan received the
students of Alexander Blok No. 122 primary school.
Ms.
Anahit Manasyan presented to the schoolchildren the mission of the Defender’s
Office, the scope of powers, directions and priorities of work, and spoke about
the issues related to the protection of human rights, the fight against
bullying, hate speech, intolerance and discrimination. The Human Rights
Defender specifically referred to the importance of quality education.
The
children were introduced with the mandate of the Defender in the field of
protection of children's rights, the rights of the child defined by the UN
Convention on the Rights of the Child and the structures of their protection.
"Education
has a special meaning for me. I am sure that a person should be educated and
developed throughout his/her life. Moreover, there are things that we are not
taught in schools and universities. We gain many values through the right
environment and contact culture," highlighted Ms. Anahit Manasyan.
Representatives
of the Defender’s Office also took part in the meeting, which had a Q&A
format. The students also raised their questions.
Ms.
Anahit Manasyan expressed her gratitude to the students for the interesting
conversation, and noted that the Defender's Office always welcomes them.
