On
the initiative of the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan, an event
dedicated to the servicemen who participated in the 44-day war was held on
November 20, in the high school of Gyulagarak community of Lori region.
The
goal was once again to emphasize the invaluable contribution of the servicemen
to the defense of the motherland, to create a platform through which it would
be possible to highlight the issues related to their rights, and find joint
solutions.
The
event was attended by the servicemen who had participated in the war, their
parents, the Governor of Lori region Mr. Aram Khachatryan, the Head of
Gyulagarak community Mr. Khachik Vardanyan, students and the staff of the
school, and a number of residents of the region and community.
In
her opening speech, the Defender highlighted the importance of organizing
events with a similar context, which provides opportunities to meet, talk and
raise issues related to the protection of the rights of the mentioned persons.
"In
fact, there is nothing insurmountable in life, all you need is the right
environment and work. It is very important for me to communicate with you and
hear the difficulties directly from you, and one of the best ways for this is
an informal environment and conversations in this format. Only by listening to
each other and working together, it is possible to overcome problems that
sometimes seem intractable. Each of us should contribute to overcoming problems
of global importance. One of my priorities as a Human Rights Defender is the
protection and promotion of the rights of war combatants. I am sure that as a
result of joint efforts, we can be stronger and achieve success," stated
the Defender.
Only
by listening to one another and cooperating can problems that appear
intractable be overcome. Each of us should contribute to the resolution of
global issues. As a Human Rights Defender, one of my top objectives is to
safeguard and promote the rights of war combatants. "I am confident that
by working together, we will be stronger and more successful," said the
Defender.
Within
the framework of the event, the servicemen presented a concert program with the
support of the psychological center of "Arpi" NGO. The
students of the school also performed thematic poems and songs.
A
number of memorable moments from the life of the serviceman Gevorg Arshakyan,
who was killed in 2020, and his path were also presented within the framework
of the event.
