the Rights of Persons with Disabilities adjunct to the Human Rights Defender
was held.
The
representatives of the Department of Ensuring Conventional Mandates of the
Defender's Office and the members of the Public Council on Protection of the
Rights of Persons with Disabilities adjunct to the Defender took part in the
discussion.
During
the session, the regulations provided for the draft of the RA Government's
decision "On making changes and additions to the decision of the Republic
of Armenia on approving the procedure and conditions for providing personal assistant
service" were discussed.
Concerns
and observations of HRDO and the members of Council regarding the project were
presented. In particular, reference was made to the financing of the personal
assistant institute, the standards presented to the personal assistant, the
scope of persons with disabilities who have the opportunity to use the services
of the personal assistant, the issues of monitoring the services provided by
the personal assistant, etc.
The
Human Rights Defender emphasizes the importance of the involvement of
non-governmental organizations operating in the field of protection of the
rights of persons with disabilities in jointly identifying the existing issues
and outlining the ways to address them.
