Today,
on November 10, the Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan received the
delegation headed by Jorge Knoblovici, the head of the delegation of Jewish
associations in Argentina (Delegación de Asociaciones Israelitas Argentinas).
Welcoming
the guests, the Defender emphasized the importance of guaranteeing the rights
of both Jews and persons belonging to other national minority communities,
including the rights to the preservation and advancement of national and ethnic
identity, traditions, religion, language and culture, and ensuring effective
participation in public life.
In
this context, Anahit Manasyan stated that the activities of forming the Council
for the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Persons Belonging to National
Minorities adjunct to the Defender are currently in progress, in which
representatives of the Jewish community are also included.
Within
the framework of the meeting, the Defender presented the issues related to the
protection of the rights of forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno Karabakh,
referred to the results of the fact-finding activities conducted both by her
personally and the staff in the primary needs assessment centers.
Anahit
Manasyan made a special reference to the priorities of the activities of the
Human Rights Defender’s office, emphasizing her determination to continue the
fight against the environment and speech of intolerance, discrimination and
hatred.
In
turn, the members of the delegation of Jewish associations in Argentina
expressed their gratitude for the reception, emphasizing the activity of the
Defender's institution in strengthening the proper system of human rights
protection.
