The
lawyers of Tatevik Virabyan, a detainee kept in the "Abovyan"
penitentiary institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia,
applied to the staff of the Defender's office, informing about the deterioration
of her state of health.
Necessary
measures provided by law were immediately taken by the Defender, as a result of
which professional medical consultations were also provided.
In
addition, today, on October 17, on the instructions of the Defender during the
unannounced visit to the "Abovyan" penitentiary institution, the
Defender’s representatives met with persons deprived of liberty, including
Tatevik Virabyan.
A
private conversation was held with the latter: the Defender’s representatives
got acquainted with the T. Virabyan’s state of health, as well as examined the
issues related to the guaranteeing the rights, including the necessary
documents, conditions of detention, etc.
Discussions
were also held with the administration and medical staff of the penitentiary
institution.
T.
Virabyan’s state of health, as well as issues related to the provision of
medical care and ensuring her rights in the penitentiary institution are under
the direct attention of the Defender. The staff of the Defender's office is
also in contact with her lawyers.
The
results of the unannounced visit will be summarized and appropriate letters
will be sent to the competent authorities regarding the recorded issues.
