Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan presented issues on the protection of the rights of forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno Karabakh to the delegation headed by Mr. Masanori Fukushima, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan.
Mr. Ikegami Masaki, the Deputy Assistant Minister of the European Affairs Bureau of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan was also part of the delegation.
After Welcoming the guests, Anahit Manasyan stated that the other day she visited the centers of Goris, Vaik, and Kornidzor, that conduct assessment of the primary needs of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Defender herself and the staff conducted fact-finding activities, during which a number of issues were raised and addressed. In this context, the Defender particularly emphasized the necessity of properly guaranteeing the rights of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh.
Anahit Manasyan specifically referred to the serious humanitarian issues and violations of fundamental human rights caused by the Azerbaijani aggression, the state-sponsored Armenaphobic policy of Azerbaijan, which is manifested at all levels.
"The information at our disposal is derived from a comprehensive analysis, not limited to a single source. We systematically monitor Azerbaijani media and social platforms on a daily basis. Instances of hate speech targeting Armenians are articulated at all levels, including expressions by high-ranking state officials of Azerbaijan. This phenomenon has been duly documented in reports by international monitoring bodies," emphasized the Defender.
The parties exchanged ideas on the importance of protecting the rights of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, addressing humanitarian, as well as social and psychological problems.
The representatives of the delegation led by Ambassador Mr. Masanori Fukushima expressed their gratitude for the reception, highlighting the activities of the Human Rights Defender's office in strengthening the proper system of human rights protection.
