The
Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan presented the issues on the protection of
the rights of forcibly displaced people from Nagorno-Karabakh to Nanna Skau,
acting permanent coordinator of the United Nations in Armenia and the Director
of the Armenian Office of the World Food Program of the United Nations.
Today,
on September 29, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan hosted Nanna
Skau, the acting permanent coordinator of the United Nations in Armenia and the
Director of the Armenian Office of the World Food Program of the United
Nations. Denis Besedich, the Head of the UN Permanent Coordinator's Office in
Armenia, also participated in the meeting. Anahit Manasyan addressed the issues
raised during the fact-finding activities conducted by her personally and the
representatives of the Defender’s office in the centers that conduct primary
needs assessment.
The
Defender particularly emphasized the necessity of properly guaranteeing the
rights of forcibly displaced persons in the Republic of Armenia. Both sides
emphasized the importance of providing psychological support to the
aforementioned persons. Anahit Manasyan also presented the significant
humanitarian challenges and the violations of fundamental human rights caused
by the Azerbaijani aggression. The Human rights Defender highly appreciated
both the role of the United Nations in the field of human rights protection, as
well as the longstanding experience of sustainable and effective cooperation
with the Office of the Human Rights Defender.
In
return, Nanna Skoui expressed her appreciation for the activities of the Human
Rights Defender's Office and its role in enhancing the proper system of human
rights protection.
In
this context, the reports submitted by the Defender, through which the
monitoring results are documented, were highlighted.
Both
parties expressed their willingness to continue their stable cooperation and
reaffirmed their commitment of joint efforts in this area.
