The
Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan is currently holding meetings with
forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno Karabakh in Goris and Kornidzor.
The
Defender conducts fact-finding activities on the spot, detailed information is
collected. In particular, at the registration point located in Goris community,
conversations were held with forcibly displaced persons, and the issues related
to their registration and provision of accommodation were examined. Many issues
were discussed with the competent state authorities and necessary solutions
were provided.
Forcibly
displaced persons were also provided with counseling related to the protection
of rights. Anahit Manasyan has expressed a strong commitment to addressing
issues within her mandate, with a special daily focus on these matters and an
individualized approach to upholding everyone's rights.
The
forcibly displaced persons presented to the Defender the most serious issues of
human rights that appeared as a result of the Azerbaijani aggression in their
place of residence.
The
Defender also had a meeting with the governor of Syunik in Goris. Robert
Ghukasyan presented to Anahit Manasyan the activities being carried out in the
region regarding the reception of forcibly displaced persons. The Defender
stated that the issues related to the rights of these persons are under her
immediate attention. A meeting was also held with the representatives of other
state bodies.
On
the same day, the Human Rights Defender visited the Humanitarian Station based
in the Kornidzor settlement of Tegh community. Anahit Manasyan, together with
the Head of the Armenian office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees,
Kavita Belani, observed the needs assessment process, talked with the staff,
including medical workers.
The
fact-finding activities regarding the forcibly displaced persons are ongoing.
