The Human Rights Defender, Anahit Manasyan, participated
in an event dedicated to the launch of the new initiative called the
"Constitutional Justice Platform. "This initiative will involve state
bodies and citizens who have the right to appeal to the Constitutional Court of
the Republic of Armenia.
Anahit Manasyan emphasized the implementation of the
project, considering the crucial role of it in protecting human rights, as well
as ensuring access to constitutional justice, and strengthening the rule of
law.
The Defender underscored her competency in submitting applications
and amicus curiae briefs to the Constitutional Court. She placed a distinct
emphasis on the significance of fostering effective collaboration and a
constructive dialogue with the Constitutional Court. Additionally, she
highlighted the ongoing refinement of skills within the Human Rights Defender's
office for the development of applications and amicus curiae briefs as a crucial
aspect of their work.
Anahit Manasyan also highlighted the significance of an
upcoming workshop, which aims to enhance the dialogue between the Human Rights
Defender’s office and the Constitutional Court, as well as to contribute to the
further development of capabilities of the personnel of the Human Rights
Defender’s office.
It is crucial to emphasize that this initiative stands as
a cooperative undertaking between the Constitutional Court and the United
States Agency for International Development (USAID).
