On
September 13, the representatives of the Human Rights Defender's office made an
unannounced visit to the "Vardashen" Penitentiary Institution of the
Ministry of Justice.
Private
conversations were held with persons deprived of liberty, including Garik
Galeyan, the father of Mkhitar Galeyan, a soldier who died in the 44-day war.
The
state of ensuring their rights, as well as the necessary documents and conditions
of detention were examined.
The
representatives of the Human Rights Defender's office also held discussions
with the administration of the penitentiary institution.
The
results of the unannounced visit will be summarized and appropriate letters
will be sent to the competent authorities regarding the recorded problems.
