Today,
on September 6, the Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan received the
delegation of the US Agency for International Development led by Marc Lassman,
the Chief of Party at the USAID/Armenia Justice Sector Support Project
Welcoming the guests, Anahit Manasyan highly appreciated the programs
implemented by USAID/Armenia in the field of human rights protection, which contribute
to the development of democracy and legal environment in our country. Marc
Lassman, in his turn, emphasized the possible cooperation with the Human Rights
Defender's office in the programs implemented in the field of human rights
protection.
Within the framework of the meeting, various questions were
discussed, including the possible directions of cooperation, the possibility of
developing the capacities of the staff of the Human Rights Defender with the
support of USAID. The Defender specifically emphasized the importance of
further improvement of the skills of the employees in relation to submitting
applications, as well as amicus curiae briefs to the Constitutional Court.
At
the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold a workshop in the near
future aimed at strengthening the dialogue between the Human Rights Defender’s
office and the Constitutional Court, as well as developing the capabilities of
the HRD staff.
