Immediately
after the publication of information about 2 servicemen with fatal gunshot
wounds, a discussion procedure was initiated at the Human Rights Defender’s
office.
In
connection with the incidents, letters have been sent to the competent state
bodies for clarifications. The Defender emphasizes that the presence of such
cases in the Armed Forces is cause for concern.
The Defender
emphasizes the effective investigation of the mentioned cases by the competent
state bodies, as well as undertaking necessary measures aimed at preventing
similar cases.
Any
issue related to human rights in the Armed Forces is under the direct attention
of the Human Rights Defender. The Defender will be consistent in addressing the
problems in the field and taking steps to solve them.
