On
July 11 Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan made an unannounced monitoring
visit to the detention facility of the National Security within the mandate of
the National Prevention Mechanism (NPM).
The
state of ensuring the rights of persons deprived of their liberty, the
conditions of detention and sanitary hygiene, issues related to medical care
and service, the registers and other necessary documents maintained by the
detention facility of the National Security Service, as well as the working
conditions of the staff were studied.
The
Defender's visits to penitentiary institutions and other places of deprivation
of liberty are continuous. The results of the visits will be summarized and
proposals for solutions to systemic problems will be presented to the competent
state bodies.
