Today,
on July 18, Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan paid an unannounced visit to
the "Nubarashen" penitentiary institution. The Defender was
accompanied by Laura Gasparyan, the Coordinator of the National Preventive
Mechanism Implementation and the Head of the Department for Prevention of
Torture and Ill-Treatment.
Anahit
Manasyan had a meeting with the management staff of the penitentiary
institution and discussed a number of issues related to the conditions of
detention of persons deprived of liberty, their transportation to medical
institutions, and a number of questions related to ensuring transportation.
During the visit, the Defender also had a private conversation with the convict
Varuzhan Avetisyan. Anahit Manasyan got acquainted with his health condition
and necessary documents on the spot.
The
Defender's visits to penitentiaries and other places of deprivation of liberty
are continuous.
