Today, on July
5, Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan visited the enlarged Ijevan
community of Tavush region.
The Defender, accompanied by Erik
Tserunyan, the Head of the Tavush regional subdivision of the Human Rights
Defender's office, toured the territory of
the Tavush regional unit of the conscription and mobilization service of the Ministry of Defense, talking with the staff and young
people going for mandatory military service. By wishing them a smooth and
trouble-free servicethe Defender assured them that the issues related to the protection of their rights
are at the center of her immediate attention.
The next stop was the Gandzakar settlement. Anahit Manasyan discussed issues
related to the protection of human rights in the settlement with Vardges
Dovlatbekyan, the Administrative
Head of the settlement. Within the framework of the visit,
the Defender toured the territory of the school being built in the settlement
and also held meetings with the residents who mentioned that the problems are
mainly related to irrigation of lands.
The regional visits of the Human Rights Defender to get acquainted with the human rights issues in
the country are continuous.
