Today,
on June 28, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan hosted the delegation
headed by Mr. Andreas Kleiser, the Director for Policy and Cooperation of the
International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).
Welcoming
the guests, the Defender presented the activities that are implemented aimed at
the protection of the rights of servicemen and civilians who are missing as a
result of the 44-day Artsakh war of 2020, and the rights of their family
members. Ms. Anahit Manasyan informed that she holds regular meetings with the
parents and family members of missing persons, and raises the issue during
meetings with international partners.
During
the meeting, reference was made to the rights of family members of missing
persons to know about the location and fate of their relatives, the effective
investigation of the cases, including their recognition as a victim within the
proceedings, and other relevant rights. The activities carried out regarding
these issues within the context of the mandate of the Human Rights Defender
were presented.
In
his turn, Mr. Andreas Kleiser highly appreciated the activities carried out by
the Defender in the field of human rights protection, presented the mandate of
the Commission, and expressed his willingness to deepen the cooperation with
the Defender’s Office.
