In relation to the incident of apparent violence against a lawyer in
the Central Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a discussion
procedure has been started at the initiative of the Defender Anahit Manasyan.
"In accordance
with the information spread today, violence was committed against lawyer Karen
Alaverdyan in the Central Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In relation to the incident, a discussion procedure was
started on the Defender's initiative. Corresponding letters will be sent to the
General Prosecutor's Office of the RA and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the request
to make the circumstances of the case the subject of a detailed and
comprehensive investigation.
It should be emphasized that the protected professional
activity of a lawyer is one of the most important prerequisites for a proper
system of human rights protection in the country, it has a key importance in
the system of justice and
ensuring the rule of law."
