Today, early morning, Syuzan Simonyan, Coordinator of the Armenian Women’s Front initiative, informed the RA Human Rights Defender’s Office via hotline that Hakob, Hripsime, Elmon Yeghnukyans and members of the Armenian Women Front initiative Ruzanna Yeghnukyan, Aghavni Sahakyan and Geghetsik Tonoyan were taken to the Central Division of the Yerevan City Department of the RA Police.
According to the report, they were taken to the police divison for distributing leaflets about Zhirayr Sefilyan and Karo Yeghnukyan in the presence of participants of the Armenia-Diaspora forum.
Immediately after the call, the representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s Office visited the Central Division of the Yerevan City Department. The representatives of the Defender’s Office had private conversations with those people, as well as required clarifications on the legal grounds for their brought to police. According to police officers, the mentioned persons were brought to police on the basis of an alarm about presence of explosive devices in the Republic Square.
As a result of joint work with the police, Hakob, Hripsime, Elmo Yeghnukyans were released, activities are being carried out to clearify the reasons of other people’s brought to police.
