Today,
on May 11, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan, as a member of the
High-level delegation of the Interagency Committee, had a meeting with the
Council of Europe Secretary General, Ms. Marija Pejčinović Burić.
In
her speech, the Defender referred to the issues related to the execution of the
judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.
She
emphasized the importance of the proper implementation of standards on the
prohibition of torture and other forms of ill-treatment, the right to liberty,
freedom of assembly, and other fundamental rights, as well as the necessity to
exclude hate speech.
Ms.
Anahit Manasyan also presented to Ms. Marija Pejčinović Burić the violations of
the rights of the population of the border settlements of the Republic of
Armenia as a result of the actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces, as well as
the humanitarian situation resulting from the blockade of the Lachin Corridor
and the installation of a checkpoint by Azerbaijan.

Ms. Anahit Manasyan takes part in the thematic discussion on "Fostering
execution of the European Court of Human Rights judgments at the institutional
level" in Strasbourg from May 11 to 12, as well as in the launch event of
the Armenian user interface of HUDOC, as a member of the High-level delegation
of the Interagency Committee of the Republic of Armenia created to organize the
ongoing work arising from the international obligations assumed by the European
Convention on Human Rights, including oversight over the execution of the ECtHR
judgments.
