On April 21, Human Rights Defender Kristinne
Grigoryan received the representatives of the Swedish National Courts
Administration, Chief Judge Björn Lindén and Legal Adviser Ludvig Becking.

Grigoryan greeted the international partners and presented the guarantees of
independence provided by the Constitutional Mandate of Defender's Office in the
field of human rights and the high public confidence in the institute,
expressing her willingness to contribute to the Program funded by the Swedish
International Development Cooperation Agency.
During the meeting, the parties discussed
the practical steps of the Program aimed at developing the capacities of judges
in Armenia referring to ethics, anti-corruption awareness, effective
cooperation between the courts and the media, which aims to increase public
confidence in the judiciary.
Further, Defender Grigoryan presented her
observations to her colleagues on the system of automatic distribution of court
cases, the lack of unified statistics, as well as the procedures of
disciplinary proceedings against judges.
Kristinne Grigoryan also suggested considering
the possibility of joint trainings with the involvement of the police,
investigative bodies, prosecutors and judges as a guarantee of the
effectiveness of the investigation of certain cases.
Summing-up the meeting, the parties expressed their
willingness to continue the cooperation within the framework of the launched Program.
