The convict applied to
the Human Rights Defender to receive assistance to receive a free surgery.
The applicant noted that
they had been transferred once to the Hospital of Convicts penitentiary
institution, and had received painkillers; however, the painkillers were not
effective, and they were still in pain. The applicant informed that their
surgery is not organized within the framework of free medical care and services
guaranteed by the state.
During the analysis of
the complaint, a letter was sent to the Ministry of Justice of Armenia. After
constant correspondence with the Ministry, the convict underwent a free surgery
with the assistance of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia.
After the surgery, the
representatives of the Defender visited the Hospital of Convicts penitentiary institution, and held private interviews with the convict. The latter was
satisfied with the results of the surgery.
