September
28 is celebrated around the world as the International Day for Universal Access
to Information.
Access
to information is a key guarantee of civilian supervision over the state, while
the state, in its turn, must ensure fair access to information for all, in line
with people's needs and the development of new technologies.
The
media and civil society play an important role in this, as their activities
contribute to the guarantee of freedom of speech and the dissemination of
information.
All
state bodies should take into consideration that making information public and
accessible, primarily contributes to the increase in the trust in their
institution and to the fight against misinformation.
