Wreaths and coffins along with photographs have been placed near
the homes and/or buildings occupied by a number of deputies of the Republic of
Armenia’s (RA) National Assembly in recent days. In connection with this, there
have been public discussions have been registered, which appear to consider and
refer back the events of 2018 and the “boomerang” phenomena.
The fact that these vicious events took place in 2018 does not
mean that the same should be done now. Otherwise, we will find ourselves in
such a dangerous vicious circle whereby the same vicious event can be repeated
over and over again, whether it be referring to the "boomerang law,” or
doing so out of a sense of "revenge".
The Human Rights Defender has also assessed this type of
behavior as been unacceptable in 2018 based upon the same principles.
In particular, the Defender noted at that time that such actions
violate the dignity of a person, his family, disrupt a person's family and
private life. They contain elements of provocation of violence and can
adversely affect the mental state of a person and his family.
All of this serves only to increase tensions in what already is
a difficult and critical situation.
The development of all events in our country must be ensured
through respect for human dignity and rights.
