On
February 28, the Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan participated in a meeting
with the family members of those missing during the 2020 war at the residence
of the President of the Republic.
The
meeting was also attended by the Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan and the
Chief Adviser to the Minister of Defense, Major General Artur Simonyan.
During
the meeting, the importance of applying to international organizations and
their reaction to the solution of the issues with regard to captives and search
for missing persons was emphasized, in order to prevent Azerbaijan from making
the issue of the return of the Armenian captives a subject of political
manipulation and bargaining.
"Human
rights or humanitarian issues during the post-war process, including the
release and return of the captives, should be ensured immediately after the
cessation of hostilities and they should be kept away from the political processes”
– noted the Human Rights Defender, stressing that he is constantly raising the
human rights violations by Azerbaijan and informing relevant human rights
organizations.
