Recently, one of the deputies
of the "My Step" fraction of the National Assembly, who had made a
political statement criticizing the post of the RA Prime Minister, applied to
the Human Rights Defender. According to the MP, he started receiving threats
including threats on deprivation of life.
The Defender strongly
condemns this dangerous phenomenon.
The police must take
immediate measures to ensure the personal safety of the member the National
Assembly. The Defender will immediately provide the MP's personal data to the
Police.
Within the Defender's
mandate, the issues on the personal safety of the MPs will be at the center of
the Defender’s primary attention and review to the maximum
extent possible.
