A
woman who had been subjected to violence by her husband requested the Human
Rights Defender’s support in ensuring her and her daughter’s safety.
The
investigation of the complaint revealed that the husband, being regularly under
the influence of alcohol, had used violence against his wife. As a result of
regular violence, the woman had serious concerns about her and her disabled
daughter’s safety.
Taking
into account the importance and urgency of the issue, the Defender's Office
initiated a joint work with the Police, the circumstances of the case were
examined. As a result, a "warning" protection measure was applied to
the citizen's spouse. The issue of transferring the woman and her disabled
daughter to a shelter was also discussed.
As a result of effective
cooperation with state bodies and non-governmental organizations, the woman and
her daughter were transferred to a shelter.
