These days, Azerbaijanis attack
Armenians in a number of countries on the basis of their ethnicity.
This is evidenced by the materials
(videos, posts, etc.) that the Human Rights Defender's Office receives with
alerting calls, as well as through the monitoring of available data.
Analyses of the monitoring results show
that the attacks against Armenians are motivated by hatred based on ethnicity
(Armenophobia), and accompanied by hate speech and degrading calls. The attacks
are provocative in nature, are carried out by a group of people all of a sudden
and against civilians that are vulnerable and cannot defend themselves.
The Human Rights Defender brings these
events to the attention of international organizations. This should be
immediately stopped in order to prevent further tensions and dangerous
developments. Today, the Defender will send official letters to international
organizations.
The Human Rights Defender urges to be
vigilant and do not get provoked. One should be refrained from any action
prohibited by law, including from those against vulnerable people. Anything that
contributes to a dangerous development and tension should be excluded.
