The Human Rights
Defender confirmed the composition of the expert council on the protection of
rights of people with disabilities adjunct to the Human Rights Defender.
The expert council
is composed of NGO representatives and independent experts with professional
experience in the field of protection of rights of persons with disabilities,
service delivery for them, drafting strategic papers, as well as in conducting analysis.
As an advisory
body, the council has the purpose of contributing to the improvement protection
of rights of persons with disabilities, as well as to the strengthening of the
cooperation between the Defender and civil society representatives. For this
purpose, the members of the council will have an opportunity to directly
participate in the discussions of the issues related to persons with
disabilities and respective solutions, to carry out relevant studies, as well
as to participate in drafting recommendations.
The cooperation with
the civil society, organisations and independent experts is one of the

disabilities and the elimination of discrimination and stigmatization. Hence,
these issues are an important direction of the Defender’s activities.
