Ms.
Arpi Davoyan, a Member of the Parliament, applied to the Human Rights Defender,
noting that she revealed photos on the Internet that spread hatred and insult
the Prime Minister’s family, including his wife and children, in social
networks. The MP informed that, in order to reveal the perpetrators and held
them liable, she had applied to the RA Police and requested the Human Rights
Defender’s attention to this issue.
The
Human Rights Defender has always underlined that the private, family life of a
person, as well as the vicious act of targeting family members, regardless of
who they are, should be condemned.
Any
debate or discussion should take place in an atmosphere of solidarity and respect,
excluding hate speech and acts degrading dignity.
Once
again, we clarify that the Human Rights Defender has no authority to impose
liability on people, including coercive measures, to protect officials from
citizens or protect citizens in relations with each other.
We
once again urge everyone to study the provisions of the RA Constitutional Law
on the Human Rights Defender.
