Citizens called the hotline of the Human Rights
Defender's Office requesting for the Defender's assistance in crossing the Iranian-Armenia
state border by trucks.
According to the application, a number of
trucks with drivers were in the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, near
the border of the Republic of Armenia. They were not able to enter the
territory of the Republic of Armenia for 3 to 4 days, because of the queues of
more than 300 trucks. The
citizens added that the representatives of the Iranian side had informed that
the Armenian side did not accept trucks, but, as they ascertain, the Armenian
side allowed cars with Iranian vehicle registration plate to enter the
territory of the Republic of Armenia at night time.
The Human Rights Defender’s Office discussed
the issue with the relevant representative of the Commandant’s Office. As a
result of the cooperation, a number of drivers were allowed to enter the
Republic of Armenia by trucks.
