The
Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan chaired the Annual Conference of the Eurasian
Alliance of Ombudsmen in Moscow.
The
Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova, the
Chief Inspector Head of General Inspection Organization of Iran Kazem Aqrami, the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic Tokon
Mamytov, NHRI representatives from Serbia, Montenegro, Indonesia, Kazakhstan,
Tajikistan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Uzbekistan and Cambodia,
representatives of the European Ombudsman Institute and Eurasian Economic
Commission attended the event.
During
the meeting, the participants discussed issues on the protection of citizens’
rights in the state parties to the Eurasian Alliance of Ombudsmen and outlined
directions of the work for 2020. In particular, a joint reception of citizens,
organization of joint events on human rights protection and protection of
students’ rights studying in the member states of the Alliance, etc. is
envisaged.
The
participants of the meeting also agreed on establishing an electronic compilation
of the best practices of the members of the Alliance.
During
the session chaired by the Human Rights Defender, the Protector of Citizens of
the Republic of Serbia, as well as the Commissioner for Human Rights in the
Republic of Tajikistan joined the Eurasian Alliance of Ombudsmen.
To
remind, the Eurasian Alliance of Ombudsmen was established on December 5th
of 2017. The Alliance is the first network engaged in the human rights
protection that unites the national human rights institutions operating in
Europe and Asia.
