On the initiative
of the Director of “Democracy Today”, Gyulnara Shahinyan, the Human Rights
Defender Arman Tatoyan, hosted the young people from Tavush and Artsakh,
participating in the NGOs program aimed at enhancing the young people’s role.
The Human Rights Defender
highlighted the role of the youth and emphasized that the capacities of young
people are important for the country’s development.
Arman Tatoyan
presented the working principles and directions of the Human Rights Defender to
the youth.
In particular, he
noted, that the personal information of the individuals who file complaints
with the Defender is highly protected, systemic problems are often identified
in the result of a complaint examination, and drafts on making amendments to
laws are prepared aimed at solving the existing problems.
The Human Rights
Defender reflected on the activities implemented in different areas, starting
from the protection of the rights of servicemen and their family members to the
development of women’s economic capacities.
Arman Tatoyan
emphasized the awareness-raising activities conducted by the Human Rights
Defender’s Office aimed at preventing human rights violations.
The young people addressed different
questions to the Human Rights Defender, including on the state of protection of
human rights at the penitentiary institutions, rights of our compatriots who
appeared in the territory of Azerbaijan, etc.
