Dear compatriots,
Today on December 10th,
the international community celebrates the Human Rights Day.
Today is marked by the
adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948.
Human rights protection
and respect is the main driving force for the development of every society.
Human rights protection
must be a priority not only in the state policy agenda but also a principle of everyday
work of every state representative.
As the Human Rights
Defender of Armenia, my day-to-day work and efforts are precisely directed
towards the improvement of the current mechanism for ensuring human rights, raising
public awareness, and identifying existing problems, as well as finding
relevant solutions.
In 2019 our country adopted
a number of strategic documents in different areas, including in judicial,
anti-corruption and human rights protection areas.
It is important to remember
that apart from establishing human rights as a priority area, practical steps
towards their implementation is also crucial.
It is upon each of us to
foster the full implementation of the state’s commitment to human rights
protection and to ensure access to legal means of rights protection.
