Representatives of
the RA Human Rights Defender's Office met with Davit Khajakyan, the head of the
“Luys” Faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders and the member of the Council
of Elders Ani Khachatryan, who had earlier met with Human Rights Defender Arman
Tatoyan.
Such a format of
cooperation with the members of the Council of Elders, directly elected by the
citizen's vote and in close contact with them will increase the efficiency of problem-solving.
During
the meeting, the systematic
issues addressed to the Defender that under the jurisdiction of the Yerevan Municipality,
as well as joint activities aimed at identification and solution of those
issues were discussed.
In particular, issues related to
the establishment and maintenance of coexistence rules in the field of public
order, issues related to the administration of arbitrary construction, the
process of resettlement of emergency buildings in Yerevan, issues with regard
to permissions or refusals of construction by the Municipality, etc. were
discussed.
An agreement was reached to
expand active cooperation, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of human rights
protection.
The Ombudsman attached importance
to the cooperation with the Yerevan Municipality and the Council of Elders for
resolving issues within the jurisdiction of the Municipality.
