On
October 22, a launch event of a project on labor rights protection and capacity
building was organized at the Human Rights Defender’s Office. The Office of the
Human Rights Defender implements the project in cooperation with the Embassy of
Bulgaria in Armenia.
In his
opening remarks, the Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan highlighted the
importance of the effective cooperation established with the Bulgarian Embassy
and the project directions.
In the
framework of the project awareness-raising activities on labor rights, namely
dissemination of guides and informative leaflets among society, broadcast of
videos, as well as capacity building activities for the Office of the Human
Rights Defender are envisaged.
The Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Armenia H.E.
Ms. Maria Pavlova Tzotzorkova expressed hope that the new project will have the
same positive outcome in the field of labor rights protection, as the previous
project has had in the field of consumer rights protection.
The
Human Rights Defender highlighted the importance of joint work with the civil
society organizations, state bodies and journalists in achieving positive
results.
During
the event, the Defender’s representatives presented the state of labor rights protection in Armenia, as well as systemic issues
raised as a result of investigating complaints addressed to the Human Rights
Defender.
In the
framework of the project, an ad hoc public report of the Defender will be prepared,
where legislative and practical issues in the field of labor rights protection
will be discussed and relevant recommendations for their solution will be
presented.
