RA Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan received today French Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Lackot.
In the course of the meeting the situation of human rights protection in Armenia, the activities of the Defender, the scope of work, the scope of powers, as well as the conventional statuses and international cooperation were discussed.
Arman Tatoyan presented to the ambassador the work done in the field of protection of women's and children's rights, prevention of violence against them and systematic steps to raise public awareness.
The Defender and the French Ambassador have agreed to cooperate with the civil society and the mass media.
The sides also discussed issues related to the visit of the French school in Gyumri to the framework of the visit of French ombudsman Jacques Tubon to Armenia. This school was opened after the 1988 earthquake with the participation of Jacques Tubo and Charles Aznavour.
At the end of the meeting the sides expressed their readiness to strengthen and expand the effective cooperation.
