Based on publications about transferring Gevorg Safaryan to a disciplinary cell the RA Human Rights Defender’s Office immediately initiated an investigation procedure upon its own initiative. Both Gevorg Safaryan and his advocate have been notified about this in a proper manner.
After the initiation of the discussion as well as before that, there were periodic unannounced visits to Nubarashen penitentiary institution.
During the visits, private interviews were held with G. Safaryan and his documents were examined.
The last visit was made on 22nd of July.
Currently, the Defender’s representatives are at the Nubarashen penitentiary institute.
G. Safaryan’s security claims and concerns should be subject of in-depth examination and should be taken into consideration by the administration of the penitentiary institution.
While addressing the transfer issue, the issue of compatibility must be taken into consideration.
There were also issues raised regarding his detention conditions.
The Human Rights Defender’s Office initiates all the necessary steps prescribed by law concerning Gevorg Safaryan’s case.
