Today, the Human Rights Defender
Arman Tatoyan conducted an unannounced visit to “Nubarashen” Penitentiary Institution.
During the visit, the Defender had
private interviews with detainees and convicted persons who are keeping in the
penitentiary institution and sent complaints to the Human Rights Defender. The
later directly got acquainted with the detention conditions. The Ombudsman also
met with the staff of the penitentiary institution and discussed a number of issues
related to the detention conditions.
Human Rights Defender's visits to
penitentiary institutions and other places of deprivation of liberty will be
periodic.
