The Human Rights
Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan received a delegation headed by the Deputy
Assistant Secretary for the U.S. State’s Department Michael Kelleher.
The Human Rights
Defender informed that the institution effectively cooperates with the U.S.
Embassy in Armenia, as well as implement projects with the U.S. Agency for International
Development (USAID).
The Human Rights
Defender said that he pays particular attention to the promotion of human
rights. Arman Tatoyan mentioned that at the moment they conduct awareness
raising on the rights of women and persons with disabilities both through
videos and guidelines in cooperation with ABA ROLI and the USAID.
Among other issues, the
Human Rights Defender also reflected to the work in penitentiary and
psychiatric institutions, institutions for the care and protection of children
and other institutions.
The Deputy Assistant
Secretary for the U.S. State’s Department Michael Kelleher emphasized the
importance of the work of the Human Rights Defender and human rights protection
issues.
