Today, the Human Rights Defender of Armenian Arman Tatoyan had a
working meeting with the President of the Parliamentary
Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Liliane Maury Pasquier.
During the meeting the Human Rights Defender's working
principles were discussed. In particular, the parties discussed the work
carried out in the areas of prevention of torture, protection of the rights of
women and children, persons with mental health problems, as well as persons
with disabilities, recorded problems and steps taken to address them.
The Human Rights Defender of Armenia highlighted the importance
of cooperation with the members of the delegation of the National Assembly of
Armenia to PACE. The Defender particularly emphasized working meetings with the
Deputies of National Assembly of Armenia during which they exchange information
on the state of human rights in Armenia.
The PACE
President expressed thankfulness to Arman Tatoyan for effective cooperation and
expressed readiness to further expand the cooperation. The Human Rights
Defender noted that PACE plays an important role in the consistent improvement
of the level of human rights protection in Armenia.
