The Human Rights Defender’ Office has recorded social network posts on obliging voters or calling them to photograph ballot papers and thereby prove the concrete results of the voting.
Such practice violates the electoral right.
The Human Rights Defender considers it necessary to remind all citizens that compelling a voter to reveal the voting result for the violation of the confidentiality of voting, checking voting ballots for finding out the voting result, entering into the voting room, as well as violating of the confidentiality of voting otherwise are crimes as defined by the Criminal Code. This act is punished with a fine of 500,000-700,000 AMD or imprisonment for 2-5 years.
In addition, voting that is visible to a third party (except for a one that assists a voter), as well as violation of the confidentiality of voting by photographing a document revealing the voting result or by publishing information obtained through a recorded video shall be punished with a fine of 100.000-200.000 AMD.
