In the application addressed to the Human Rights Defender the convict requested to visit him, examine his medical documents and assist in organizing the necessary surgery.
During the private interview, held within the unannounced visit, the applicant informed that because of health issues he had been transferred to a civilian hospital, where surgical intervention had been prescribed for him. However, the hospital refused to perform the surgery in the framework of State guaranteed free of charge medical assistance.
As a result of the discussion procedure initiated by the Human Rights Defender’s Office, the issue raised by the convict has received a positive solution. Later, after the surgery, as a result of the cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, the convict has undergone an additional medical examination.
