On
March 2, students of Charentsavan Primary School No. 2 visited the Human Rights
Defender's Office of the Republic of Armenia.
Ms.
Lilit Aghajanyan, Head of the Department for the Implementation of Convention
Mandates of the Human Rights Defender's Office, presented the mission, scope of
authority, main directions and priorities of the Human Rights Defender's
Office, including the protection of the rights of various groups in society,
among them children.
In
particular, reference was made to mechanisms for the prevention of and
effective response to violence against children, ensuring safety on online
platforms, the peculiarities of the implementation of children's labor rights a
as well as legal issues related to the criminal liability of minors. Special
attention was paid to ensuring the principle of the best interests of the child
in various situations.
The
meeting was held in an interactive format, during which students had the
opportunity to voice their concerns and receive professional clarifications.
Cognitive
meetings with students of educational institutions are ongoing in the Human
Rights Defender's Office, contributing to raising children’s awareness and
promoting their active participation in the process of protecting their rights.
