On
February 3, the Human Rights Defender’s Office hosted students of the Shahumyan
Secondary School named after Artak Hambardzumyan SNCO of Ararat Province.
Welcoming
the guests, Ms. Lilit Aghajanyan, Head of the Department for the Implementation
of Convention Mandates of the Human Rights Defender's Office, presented the
mission, scope of authority, main directions and priorities of the Human Rights
Defender's Office.
During
the meeting, a number of important issues related to the rights of the child
were discussed, in particular the prevention of violence against children,
ensuring the right to education, protection of the child's personal data,
ensuring the principle of the best interests of the child, as well as proper
awareness of the law.
The
meeting was held in a Q&A format, which gave the students the opportunity
to actively participate in the discussion and raise issues of interest and
concern to them.
Cognitive
meetings with students of educational institutions are ongoing in the Human
Rights Defender's Office, contributing to raising children's legal awareness
and forming a culture of human rights.
