The Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit Manasyan, participated in the 118th plenary session of the Council of Europe’s Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) in Strasbourg from November 2 to 6, as a member of the Committee representing Armenia.
During the session, the program of periodic visits for 2026 was approved, and reports on visits conducted in 2025 to several countries — including Spain, Romania, Belgium, Turkey, Liechtenstein, Ukraine, Moldova, and the United Kingdom (Scotland) — were adopted.
It should be recalled that on November 29, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe elected Ms. Anahit Manasyan, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, as the Armenian member of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT). Ms. Manasyan’s term runs until December 19, 2027.
