From October 31 to November 1, a two-day
training-discussion was organized in Tsakhkadzor in cooperation with the Human
Rights Defender's Office and the Council of Europe.
The purpose of the training was to strengthen the
capacities and practical skills of the Human Rights Defender’s Office in
relation to the application of the standards of the European Social Charter, as
well as the processes of collecting, documenting and processing data on
violations and protection of the social rights of displaced persons and
refugees.
Opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Vladimir
Hovhannisyan, Head of Department General for Protection of Civil,
Socio-Econimic and Cultural Rights of the Human Rights Defender's Office of the
Republic of Armenia, Tanya Montanari, Coordinator of the Council of Europe’s
“Strengthening Human Social Rights in Armenia” Program of the Department of Social
Rights. The training was conducted by Mr. Danilo Curcic, a human rights expert
from Serbia, Ms. Lenka Vestenicka, representative of the Slovak National Centre
for Human Rights, and Mr. Ion Miron, Senior Adviser at the Ombudsman
Institution of the Republic of Moldova.
Mr. Vladimir Hovhannisyan expressed gratitude for the
organization of the event, emphasizing that the protection of the rights and
freedoms of forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh remains in the
daily and direct attention of the Human Rights Defender.
The training was organized in cooperation with the Human
Rights Defender’s Office of the Republic of Armenia and the Council of Europe,
within the framework of the “Strengthening Human Social Rights in Armenia”
Program of the Council of Europe.
Such events aimed at strengthening the capacities of the
Human Rights Defender's Office are ongoing.
