On September 23, the representatives of the Human Rights
Defender's Office held a regular meeting with persons with disabilities in the
Lori Province of the Republic of Armenia, within the framework of the
awareness-raising campaign being carried out in the regions of the Republic of
Armenia.
The meeting was organized in cooperation with a member of
the Public Council on the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
adjunct to the Human Rights Defender, and the “Equal Rights, Equal
Opportunities” NGO of Vanadzor in Lori Province.
A number of issues related to ensuring the rights of
persons with disabilities were discussed, existing problems in the field were
raised, presented the possibilities of involving persons with disabilities
within the framework of the implementation of the Human Rights Defender's
monitoring authority, etc.
Representatives of the Human Rights Defender's Office,
together with persons with disabilities, conducted a regular monitoring visit
to one of the renovated schools in the Lori Province of the Republic of Armenia
to observe accessibility for persons with disabilities. For the same purpose, a
joint visit was also conducted with persons with disabilities to the Vanadzor
Palace of Culture After Charles Aznavour.
During the visit, a number of issues related to ensuring
accessibility for persons with disabilities were recorded, which will be
summarized and addressed to the competent authorities.
