On
September 2-4, the Human Rights Defender’s Office of the Republic of Armenia
hosted representatives of the Danish Institute for Human Rights. The two
national human rights institutions held a joint workshop.
Earlier,
on October 22, 2024, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan and the
Executive Director of the Danish Institute for Human Rights Ms. Louise Holck
signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Yerevan. The memorandum serves as a
framework for cooperation designed to enhance communication between the two
institutions, it aims to facilitate experience exchange for capacity
development and to improve the efforts of both institutions in promoting and
protecting human rights. The Yerevan workshop was organized within the
framework of this memorandum of cooperation.
Within
the framework of the workshop, inter alia, the details of the cooperation
between the two institutions for 2025-2026 were discussed.

Expertise, and Educational Center of the Human Rights Defender's Office of the
Republic of Armenia, and Ms. Nina Nordberg, Chief Advisor of the Danish
Institute for Human Rights, summarized the intermediate results of the
cooperation and outlined future goals and joint programs.
Human
rights education has been chosen as the main direction of cooperation, within
the framework of which it is planned to carry out activities in the field of
combating discrimination. In this context, the Human Rights Defender's Office
of the Republic of Armenia and the Danish Institute for Human Rights have
initiated a joint event, within the framework of which it is planned to conduct
a national survey to assess public perceptions and attitudes regarding
discrimination in Armenia.
At
the end of the workshop, the parties expressed their willingness to continue
and further enhance cooperation in the field of human rights protection and
promotion.
