As we
previously reported, the parents and lawyer of the conscript had applied to the
Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, expressing concern regarding
the serviceman’s health problems.
In
connection with the raised issue, the Human Rights Defender’s Office
immediately initiated proceeding and an official correspondence was addressed
to the Ministry of Defense, after which the serviceman was transferred to a
military hospital. Subsequently, on the instruction of the Human Rights
Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit Manasyan, representatives of
the Human Rights Defender’s Office conducted a rapid response visit to the
hospital and met with the serviceman. Regular contact was maintained with the
medical institution in order to monitor the course of medical care and
services.
We
would like to inform that on August 14, the serviceman underwent a military
medical examination and due to his health condition, was found unfit for
military service.
