On the instructions of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, on August 14, representatives of the
Human Rights Defender conducted a rapid response visit to the “Yerevan-Kentron”
Penitentiary Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.
The purpose was to visit the detained person Mr. Serob
Gasparyan, the news of whose health condition had been published in mass media
and social media networks, and alarming calls about it had been submitted to
the Defender. The details of the visit are confidential and are not subject to
publication.
The state of ensuring the rights of the individual
(including health care), medical documents, and other relevant materials were
examined.
The results of the visit are being summarized and
adequate measures are being taken within the scope of the Defender's powers.
Issues of ensuring the rights of persons deprived of
their liberty are constantly under the direct attention of the Human Rights
Defender.
